Former PBGC Assistant Chief Counsel Joins Growing Erisa Practice at Thomas & Libowitz September 25, 2005
Baltimore-based Thomas and Libowitz, P.A., announced today that John Paliga has joined the firm's growing ERISA practice.
Paliga brings more than a decade of private law firm and government experience in ERISA compliance and litigation to the firm. He most recently served as Assistant Chief Counsel of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC), where he directed litigation of benefits issues related to financially distressed plan sponsors, corporate mergers and acquisitions, and ERISA coverage decisions. He has overseen some highly significant enforcement litigation, including the Enron, Polaroid and Laidlaw bankruptcies.
In addition to his duties at Thomas & Libowitz, Paliga will continue as an Adjunct Professor at the Georgetown University Law Center. He is also a well-respected lecturer and author on employee benefits, having presented numerous ERISA seminars for lawyers and employee benefits professionals throughout the country.
Paliga received an undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University, his law degree, with honors, from the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and his LL.M degree, with distinction, and Certificate in Employee Benefits from the Georgetown University Law Center. He also serves on the boards of several local charitable and service organizations.
