Mr. Paliga has practiced in the area of employee benefits law and related litigation for over 10 years. He currently assists employers and collectively-bargained multi-employer benefit funds in solving the day-to-day challenges associated with all types of benefit arrangements. He previously served as Assistant Chief Counsel of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, where he focused on ERISA litigation, bankruptcy, ERISA coverage determinations and transactional work. Prior to PBGC, Mr. Paliga was an associate in the labor department of a large international firm.

Mr. Paliga was the primary author of the government's amicus brief urging the Supreme Court to review an erroneous lower court decision about pension plan terminations. The court granted review, accepted the government's position, and reversed the lower court decision in Hughes v. Jacobson, 525 U.S. 432 (1999). Mr. Paliga was the lead attorney in several ERISA cases filed in federal court, and he spearheaded the government's efforts to protect pension benefits during the bankruptcies of major companies such as Enron, Polaroid and Laidlaw.

Mr. Paliga serves on the board of directors for a local private school.
